I think it's disgusting for people to dig and scratch themselves, especially in public. Why do Black women with extension braids in their hair dig and scratch their heads while riding on the bus and train? Why do Black women scratch their heads when they have extension braids?
When you first get braids, they are so tight that they are pulling at the scalp. Imagine 200 braids pulling at your skull. The scalp is dry, because there's usually nothing on it. (black hair isn't like white people's hair. It doesn't get oily unless you put something it in.)
Because it's dry, they itch and itch, and when scratching, you don't know exactly where the itch is, so you're scratching more than you would. Sometimes you can't even get at the itch because braids are too tight. Braid spray and washing the hair with warm water helps
A LOT. But most people don't wash braids that often or put spray in it that much, because what goes in the hair has to stay there for months.
I usually spray mine about once a week, and wash it about every 3 weeks. Why do Black women scratch their heads when they have extension braids?
I think that the braids are supposed to make the hair grow faster, and those things are tight! Your head would itch a little too. And making a broad generalzation at the end ';while riding on the bus or train'; is some negative stereotype of a poor black person. Stereotypes are easy to understand if you have a mind like a narrow hallway with just one door at the end.
You're making a generalization. It's not just the African women or women with extensions alone that scratch their heads. People's scalp itches every once in a while. %26amp; It's the fastest way to reduce itchyness. I guess the women you saw chose to do that in public. There's no right or wrong answer to your question. It's just a matter of their own actions %26amp; how they choose to act %26amp; live life.
Because it is VERY itchy for them to have that stuff sewed to their heads !! I agree
The extensions are made from a synthetic fiber that often irritates the scalp. Also when you have a lot of extensions on your head it blocks oxygen from reaching your scalp thus trapping moisture, or it could be vise versa where there is not enough moisture and you scalp dries out. It depends on the persons scalp, but all in all extensions are a pain the the a## to wear all together.
Because when you first get them done, they pull and the tension on the scalp causes it to become irritated and itch. Get over it and quit being so judgmental.
Probably the same reason White women from the '50s and '60s itched when having their hair in beehives or those poofy hairdos for weeks. It's hard having stress put on the hair to stay in one position all the time. The tension does cause itching at first.
Why are you lying??
We don't ';scratch';. That would loosen the extensions. We ';Pat, Pat, Pat'; our itch.
You are a liar. You owe me 10 points for best answer!
And 10 acrers and a mule.
But I'll take a Lexus. I dont have much use for a mule, sweetie. *wink*
I've seen blacks and whites with braids. They all do the same thing.
Did you know that 90% of women white and black on TV and off wear weave.
It makes their hair look fuller.
Because their scalps get sore from the tightness of the braids and it itches after awhile. My daughter braids hair and when she does....it's so tight, it's like being tortured. And the end result is that the braids look nice and tight. A lot of people would normally take it all out after it's been in just a short while and the problems start. But I think most black women are gluttons for punishment when it comes to their hair. They want to look nice and are willing to suffer for it. Oprah has gone on and on about black women and their hair woes on her shows. Rest at ease....IT's not because of lice or because they're dirty. It's about vanity.....
I think that a lot of women with extension braids think they are not supposed to wash their hair, but that's not true. (I'm not sure about human hair extentions, though...) It's not much excuse, they make a whole bunch of different kinds sprays for braids that eliminate itching.
Speaking as a black female with braids (but no extentions) those things can itch like CRAZY if not kept clean.
becuz the scout gets irritated from braids
I don't think you were being racist but you should work on your phrasing. The braids pull when they first go in so it itches. And as for it getting on your nerves, everyone has different pet peeves.
WHY DO WHITE MEN GROOP AT THEIR GROINS. THERE'S OINTMENTS FOR THAT YA KNOW.........
Have you ever worn a hugh hat. The extenstions crate a lot of mass. Yes, it is nasty, but thats everyone, not just black woman.
People are gross, but just be happy we where cloths and don't lick ourselfs. (normally)
The braids are very tight when you first get them done so it irritate the scalp, that's all. We don't have lice or anything like that, they just itch. I can understand why you might find it gross and there are a lot of other gross things people do when they don't think anyone is looking, like picking their nose while driving. I don't take public transportation because personally I find them very disgusting!!! Oh, and white women probably touch their hair a lot more in one day then black women. They are always running their fingers through their hair and flipping it behind there shoulders, I know this because I worked in the restaurant business for 7 years and constantly had to tell them to go wash their hands after doing it. Just thought I would put that out there.
It could be worse. Maybe we should just be grateful that we don't have to see them picking scabs off their nose where the bone went through or drooling spitle when they put those plates in their mouths back in Africa.
your stupid they scratch thier heads because extensions pull on the scalp and sometimes it hurts. if my arm itched im gonna scratch it, yup right in public ******.
